Los Angeles Lakers news: Kobe Bryant thinks Lakers can still break Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are on a quest to get the most open season wins in NBA history. But they have to win over the Los Angeles Lakers first and Kobe Bryant is confident that his team can put an end to the Warriors' winning streak.
No one can discount that the Warriors are in very fine form, as evidenced by their 15-0 run. Even LeBron James has described the team as one of those with the healthiest and most talented line-ups today.
Compared to that, the LA Lakers are coming from a three-game losing streak, with the team bowing to the Portland Trail Blazers in their last game.
Despite that, Bryant has confidently said that there's a chance they can end the Warriors' run, as he's seen stranger things than that happen.
"We've been playing like s***," Bryant said, as quoted by ESPN. "We might go up there and we might play like gangbusters up there. You never know."
As for Lakers coach Byron Scott, he said the Warriors are the best team he has seen in a while and that he expects that Steph Curry and the rest of the team will be ready for anything in their upcoming match-up.
Scott also described the Warriors team as having a lot of confidence in their play that they don't panic, adding that there are also no leads that are too big for them to overcome.
"You can be up by 23 [against the Warriors] and it doesn't matter, especially if they've got two quarters left," Scott explained in the same ESPN report. "It's a difference if you're up 23 with five or six minutes left; then you've probably got a great chance of winning that game."
The Warriors have shown time and again that they have the capability to whittle down any lead. For instance, in their Nov. 19 game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Warriors were down by 10 points in the last quarter before they started a 25-6 run to take the game.
But there's truth in what Bryant said about the LA Lakers potentially ending the Warriors impressive run. However, the team is still trying to rebuild and mould itself into being one of the league contenders. And with the trust issues that the Lakers are reported to have, derailing the Golden State Warriors bid for a historic 16-0 winning streak is a tall order.
