Kingdom Hearts III release won't come before December after technical issues

Players will have to wait for almost a year for the release of Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts III. It was announced earlier that the game would be out by May 2015, but due to technical issues, it has been pushed back to another holiday release in December 2015.
Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studios are reportedly in the last phase of finalizing everything. Amazon listed in the game's pre-order details that it will be shipped on December 31, 2015.
Head developer Tetsuya Nomura announced on October 2014 that because of "various reasons," his team switched to Unreal Engine 4(UE4) from Enix' own Luminous Engine, slowing down the production. They faced rendering issues because of the change, but Nomura assured that everything is still on schedule.
"UE4 was introduced and there's a lot of stuff that we didn't have to do previously, like lighting and shading, which we now have to do. The technology is vastly different but it's exhilarating to have all this stuff to learn," co-director Tai Yasue said in an interview with IGN.
Nomura also had his hands full, working on the Kingdom Hearts series and the Final Fantasy XV, which means his concentration is not 100% in either games. Thankfully, after the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 reMIX was released in October 2014, easing his burden, and the Final Fantasy was given to someone else.
Kingdom Hearts co-director Tai Yasue denied that Nomura's shortcomings caused the delay.
"Nomura has always been working on Kingdom Hearts III full-time, so nothing's really changed there. Nomura is really the visionary, so he doesn't work on the nitty gritty details. That's something we do in Osaka; alongside development, we do the technology," Yasue said.
Fans are eager to follow the new adventures of Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Kingdom Hearts III is a role-playing game (RPG) crossing over multiple universes causing a collaboration of awesomeness.
"The story continues to develop because I'm in that mindset of 'How does this enemy confront Sora?' and I pose those hurdles and challenges [to him]," Nomula told Venture Beat.
The game will also conclude the Dark Seeker saga, which means goodbye Xehanort.
Rumors are flying that the new title will see a variety of new characters such as Darth Vader, Iron Man, and even Stan Lee, creator of Marvel comics. Is it possible for Elsa and Olaf to make a cameo?
"I can't really go into any specifics or say anything about Star Wars, but when we come up with worlds we really want variety and to make sure that there's a lot of different types of worlds," Yasue said, speaking to IGN.
"They're all under consideration. Nothing's off-limits, we're considering all of the worlds. There are so many wonderful concepts. We're happy about that, but at the same time it's really tough to choose."
