"Kingdom Hearts 3" has been the subject of many rumors as of late, particularly concerning its anticipated release date. And while reports claim that the game will arrive sometime in 2017, game creator Tetsuya Nomura has only said that more news will come soon enough.

While speaking to Dengeki PlayStation, Nomura was asked when more details would be revealed about "Kingdom Hearts 3." Nomura recalled that some information was revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June, but that they are "waiting to speak more about 'Kingdom Hearts III' after releasing 'Kingdom Hearts 2.8,' so we have currently released all available information. Please wait shortly for new news."

"Kingdom Hearts 2.8" was originally scheduled to come out in December of this year, but its release was subsequently moved to January 2017. As previously reported, Square Enix is putting all of its efforts on "Kingdom Hearts 2.8," which is why promotions for "Kingdom Hearts 3" haven't started yet. However, since the release of "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" is fast approaching, fans can expect that Nomura will make good on his word and that more news will come soon.

The development for "Kingdom Hearts 3" has already started and a Twitter post from the month prior shared the team's progress. Translated, it said that the production for "Kingdom Hearts 3" is going smoothly. It also shared that there will be new worlds that are going to be introduced in the game. In these new worlds, players can run and jump, and a "wider space" has also been teased. A bigger platform will allow players to do a lot more in terms of movement.

It went on to say that next year is going to be a milestone for the franchise because it will mark its 15th anniversary. Since it is going to be a huge event, Square Enix has something in store for fans. However, it remains to be seen just what that is or if it has anything to do with "Kingdom Hearts 3."

"Kingdom Hearts 2.8" will hit the market on Jan. 24, 2017, while "Kingdom Hearts 3" has yet to receive a release date.
