'K.C. Undercover' season 3 news: Disney Channel renews spy series starring Zendaya
It's official. Disney Channel has announced a season 3 renewal order for "K.C. Undercover." The hit show starring Zendaya is currently in its second season.
According to Variety, Zendaya, who plays K.C. Cooper, has been upped to producer in the third season. For those who are unaware, K.C. comes from a family of spies and has to juggle her duties as a spy-in-training and her normal life filled with boys, school, friends, and the usual teen struggles.
"We're very proud of the success of 'K.C. Undercover' and how popular it is across our different platforms. The series will continue to deliver action sequences that push the boundaries of the multi-camera genre with the same great quality storytelling and talented cast led by the incomparable Zendaya and executive producer Rob Lotterstein," said executive vice president of original programming Adam Bonnett.
Zendaya also expressed her excitement and joy at the renewal order. "I'm happy I get to continue making positive television for kids all over the world. Stay tuned for season three — it's going to be next level," the young actress told the publication.
Production for the upcoming season will commence in 2017 as soon as Zendaya, who also has a career in music, finishes filming on "The Greatest Showman on Earth" starring Hugh Jackman and "Spider-Man: Homecoming."
As for the current season of "K.C. Undercover," the upcoming episode will see K.C. going to hilarious lengths, in order to dress up and pretend to be her own mother. Scholastic Achievement Quarterly wants to interview K.C. and her parents since she is the school's smartest student, but her double life as a secret agent creates problems for her.
A trailer has also been released for the new episode, titled "Undercover Mother." It teases K.C. donning glasses and acting as her mother, in order to be featured in SAQ. But trouble arises when Marisa (Veronica Dunne) also dresses up as K.C.'s mother at the same time.
"K.C. Undercover" airs Sundays at 8/7c on Disney Channel.
