'Iron Man 4' rumors: Robert Downey's age a setback for 'Iron Man 4'
Speculations on whether Robert Downey Jr. will suit up as Iron Man once more for another standalone "Iron Man" movie have been around for a long time already, but the question remains unanswered. However, if the latest reports are to be believed, it seems that the actor will soon pass the baton to another actor to breathe life to the character as it is said that he may be too old to play the role in "Iron Man 4."
According to the latest reports, while Downey Jr. may still be fit to play Tony Stark/Iron Man at the age of 51, time may not be on his side as it remains unknown as to when "Iron Man 4" will enter its production stage. Hence, when the movie begins filming, he may already be past his Iron Man physique and may not be suitable for it.
Meanwhile, apart from old age, it has also been reported that Marvel Studios and Downey Jr. did not see eye-to-eye on the actor's talent fee. Hence, it is very likely for the studio to let his character go from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU.)
It is said that Marvel has plans of introducing more of its comic book characters into its MCU, and the best way to do so is to let go some of its characters, including Iron Man. As Marvel introduced Riri Williams, a 15-year-old girl who made her own iron suit, in the pages of the comic books last year, Movie Pilot believes that the new iron-clad superhero known as Iron Heart will soon replace Tony Stark/Iron Man in the movies.
The online publication also floated the possibility of the death of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War" movie. This way, Movie Pilot, opines, the studio can formally usher in Riri Williams as the new iron-clad superhero in the movies.
Is MCU really killing off Tony Stark in "Avengers: Infinity War?" Will there still be an "Iron Man 4" movie? Is Riri Williams replacing Tony Stark in Marvel movies soon?
Fans can only guess for now.
