'Iron Man 4' plot rumors: Spider-Man to appear in upcoming film?

(Iron Man / Facebook)Will Tom Holland's Spider-man appear in "Iron Man 4?"

Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man is undeniably the most famous "Avenger," and as fans continue to wait patiently for updates on the fourth installment of the hero's stand-alone franchise, new reports are suggesting that Tom Holland's Spider-Man may appear in the movie.

The rumors stemmed from a recent post by the beloved actor himself on Twitter. The post reads: "New project @Jon_Favreau and @RidingShotgunLA are working on!"

In what could be the most amazing "coincidences" ever, Downey accompanied the post with a photo of him as he seems to be in a meeting with Holland, Favreau, other men who seem to be part of the project's development team, and finally, the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige.

Since there are no other details about the said meeting, it's unclear if the big names were meeting up for an all-new project that fans will hear of for the first time, but a lot are already speculating that Holland, Downey, and the others met up for "Iron Man 4."

If the rumors are true, it is highly possible that Holland's Spider-Man, who debuted on "Captain America: Civil War" earlier this year, will be featured for a huge role in the hit franchise's fourth installment.

Despite the excitement over "Iron Man 4," there are also rumors suggesting that Downey may no longer portray his Tony Stark/Iron Man role due to multiple factors affecting his deal with Marvel.

One of the biggest speculations is that Marvel may not be sure with the current talent fee that Downey is demanding from the film giant. As fans know, Downey is one of Hollywood's highest paid actors and it's not surprising that he can turn down projects which may not suit his demands on fees.

As for the reports that Riri Williams, the new "Iron Man" in the comic books, will be the star of "Iron Man 4," there are mixed reviews and comments about the alleged changes. This is because viewers still cannot seem to imagine the franchise without Downey's Tony. On the other hand, there are also some who believe it might be a good idea for the baton to be passed down to the younger generation.
