With the arrival of the iPhone 6s in the market, people have been comparing it to smartphones and phablets from last year, including the LG G3 which is bigger. Here is how these two unlikely competitors fare in comparison.

Design

It is clear that the iPhone 6s has an edge in this category, as it has a metal unibody crafted from 7000 series aluminum which makes it less prone to bending. Its edges are rounded and comes with a fingerprint scanner in its home button. As for colors, there are four to choose from: rose gold, silver, gold, and gray. The LG G3 has a plastic body, but it looks and feels premium as it has a metallic shine layered on top. It has very slim bezels and comes in a variety of colors including black, white, gold, violet, red, and blue; however, it does not have a fingerprint sensor.

Display

In terms of display size and quality, the LG G3 is an outright winner as its IPS LCD screen measures 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 538 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone 6s, it has 3D Touch technology on its screen, which senses the amount of pressure being applied and allows for better control of apps and their features. However, the screen on the iPhone 6s is smaller and less dense and it is an IPS LCD version measuring 4.7 inches with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and density of 326 pixels per inch.

Specs

There is an Apple A9 chipset on the iPhone 6s and it is coupled with a CPU with two cores clocked at 1.84 GHz, along with a PowerVR GT7600 GPU. In spite of the dual core architecture of its CPU the iPhone 6s is faster than the LG G3 which has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, coupled with a CPU with four cores clocked at 2.5 GHz along with an Adreno 330 GPU.

Memory

With the iPhone 6s having no memory slot, it cannot compete with the LG G3 in this regard,  which has a version that allows for the addition of up to 128 GB of external storage. In terms of RAM, the LG offers either 2 GB or 3 GB, while the iPhone 6s has 2 GB.

Camera

The LG G3 has a 16 megapixel camera at its rear with optical image stabilization, which is not present on the 12 megapixel camera of its competitor.

Price

The iPhone 6s is available at $199 with a two year contract, while the LG G3 costs $99 with a similar contract.
