iPad Air 3, iPad Mini 5 release date, specs rumors: Both iterations thinner

(Official Website of Apple)Pictured is the iPad Air 2. The next iteration, the iPad Air 3, is rumored to feature better sound quality.

Apple's iPad lineup has been the subject of many rumors, especially since the company has kept mum on release dates on potential new iterations such as the iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5. Regardless, that has not stopped the online world from speculating that the iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 5 may be released in November and September of this year, respectively.

There were previous rumors that the iPad Air 3 may not come to fruition due to the cancellation talks that reverberated through the Internet. However, there are some reports that claim that the device could see a launch in October and subsequently be released in early November. This claim mainly stems from historical data based on Apple's release pattern.

However, MacWorld posits that the iPad Air 3 may not see a launch until March 2017. Right now, everything is still up in the air, so fans should wait for confirmation from Apple.

As for its specifications, it is believed that the next-generation iPad Air will come with a Smart Connector. Design-wise, the iPad Air 3 is expected to be a lot thinner than previous iterations, which has sparked concerns over its battery life.

On the other hand, the iPad Mini 5 is rumored to come out in September — the 9th of September, to be exact. Like the iPad Air lineup, this speculation stems from historical data. The new iPad Mini is also rumored to appear similar to the previous model, apart from the slimmer body and aluminum material.

As for color offering, it has been said that the iPad Mini 5 will come in Rose Gold, just like other devices in the Apple roster. Additionally, much like the iPhone 7, it is rumored that the iPad Mini 5 will not come with a headphone jack.

Since these are all just rumors, though, Apple enthusiasts should take this news with a grain of salt.
