It has taken years before a sequel to the hit disaster movie "Independence Day" was finally given the green light. But now it appears that it is full steam ahead for "Independence Day: Resurgence" and star Jeff Goldblum and director Roland Emmerich have the pictures and the clips to prove it.

One clip that Emmerich posted on social media features a young boy sitting on (presumably) his father's shoulders and holding an American flag. An image of a space ship and the quote "We're fighting for our right to live. To exist" hovers above him. The clip then fades to black while static interference is heard and the word #IDR appears.

Jeff Goldblum also posted his own teaser on his newly created Facebook account. This time, the clip shows a cityscape with the same phrase across the image. It also ended the same way as the first clip. Goldblum captioned the clip with the message "We thought we wiped them out. The Resurgence is here. #IDR."

The third teaser clip is more upbeat and patriotic. It shows the image of Bill Pullman's character President Thomas Whitmore superimposed over an American flag along with his famous speech from the first movie.

It was not all gloom and doom though. Goldblum's first ever Facebook and Instagram post was a picture of himself on the set being photobombed by co-star Liam Hemsworth.

The "Jurassic Park" star is reprising his role as David Levinson. He is now in charge of a division called the Earth Space Defense which is tasked with coming up with ways and technology to protect a planet using "technology that we found from the downed ship."

Bill Pullman is also back but this time around, there is another president in charge – Sela Ward's President Lanford.

Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner are also onboard for "Independence Day Resurgence." While Hirsch will still be playing Goldblum's irascible father, Spiner's role is still a mystery.

"Independence Day: Resurgence" is expected to hit theaters in time for Independence Day 2016.
