'How to Train Your Dragon 3' release date delayed a month early
Good news to all "How to Train Your Dragon" fans as release date for the third installment was moved from June 29, 2018 to May 18, 2018. The waiting is shortened for about a month.
The reason for the change in schedule is said to be the competition between FOX and Warner Bros. Warner Bros.' "The LEGO Movie 2," which was supposed to hit theaters on May 18, 2018, was moved to a later date.
Changing schedules to avoid clash for the box office is not new to animated features. "How to Train Your Dragon 3" was supposed to be shown together with Disney Pixar's "Finding Dory" before it was moved to a much later date.
"How to Train Your Dragon" film franchise is loosely based on the book by author Cressida Cowell. The first installation was released in 2010 followed by "How to Train Your Dragon 2" in 2014. A game was also made based on the film, as well as a TV series that follows the journey of Hiccup.
As the main protagonist of the film, Hiccup lives among the Vikings in Berk Island. He is the son of Stoick the Vast, the island's chieftain who looks, acts, and thinks like a typical Viking leader. Unlike his father, Hiccup has a tiny built but has a big heart.
In their village, when the movie started, dragons are seen as enemies and are either killed or rendered captives. Dragons in captivity are used by the Vikings for dragon fighting training. Hiccup's encounters with the dragons leave him taking pity on the beasts and he sets them free.
One night, Hiccup got trapped in the dungeon where he encounters a wounded dragon he named Toothless. The two became friends and soon Hiccup learns how to train dragons. Soon their village learned that some dragons could indeed be tamed and the Vikings and dragons have learned to live harmoniously.
However, their village is in constant threat from Vikings and dragons alike. There are no official reports yet regarding "How to Train Your Dragon 3's" plot.
