'How to Get Away with Murder' season 3 premiere spoilers: Pete Nowalk, Viola Davis share behind-the-scene photos

(Faceboook/HowToGetAwayWithMurder)"How to Get Away with Murder" will premiere on Sept. 22 on ABC.

They're back in court! Filming for "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 has already begun. And in a new photo teased by creator Pete Nowalk, fans can see a glimpse of six people in a court room.

Nowalk shared the photo on his Instagram account and captioned it, "First shoot day of Season 3." In the photo, fans can see Connor (Jack Falahee), Bonnie (Liza Weil), Laurel (Karla Souza), and Asher (Matt McGorry) looking and listening intently at presumably the judge. They are joined by two guest stars — a young boy and a woman.

It remains to be seen what case they are working on at the moment the shot was taken. But as Nowalk has said before in his interview with Variety, there may be more cases in the upcoming season or there could also be a big case spanning an arc like in the previous season. "What I feel strongly about the show is that we don't have to follow a formula. We can always mix it up," he said.

Star Viola Davis, who plays Annalise Keating, also teased fans with a photo of her own posted to her Instagram account. "Fasten your seat belts for season 3," she captioned the snap, which saw Davis taking a selfie with some of the other cast members.

Charlie Weber is noticeably absent from the photo. And while the previous season saw Weber's character, Frank, at odds with Annalise, it has been said that the actor will still be a part of season 3. The ongoing theory is that Frank was responsible for shooting Wallace (Adam Arkin) to make it back on Annalise's good side, but the notion has not been confirmed.

Nowalk admitted that the theory made a lot of sense and is definitely possible. However, he did not reveal if it was true. "It's all up in the air," he teased.

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 will premiere on Sept. 22, Thursday, on ABC.
