'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: Big changes about to happen behind the scenes

(Facebook / House of Cards)There are so many speculations surrounding the relationship of Frank and Claire Underwood in the upcoming season. Will they continue to put up a united front or completely break apart?

The previous episodes of "House of Cards" were intense all throughout the season. Fans of the series cannot wait to see if their theories on what lies ahead for the Underwoods are correct. Big changes are in store both in the story and production.

Production-wise, season 5 will be the first season without its creator and showrunner for four seasons, Beau Willimon. The announcement of his departure was made together with the announcement of a season 5 renewal in January. His decision was said to be brought about by his wishes to venture into other projects. He has passed on his duties to Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson.

Willimon has left Pugliese and Gibson so many options as to where the story could lead in season 5. Season 4 began with Claire wanting to divorce Frank. She has realized his political ambitions will come before her. However, after Frank's life was put in danger, she decided to get back with him.

Claire eventually succeeded in convincing her husband to make her his right arm not only in marriage but in political power as well. As her husband's vice president, she discovered and learned more about his secrets in politics. Her political ambitions increased with her experience as well, which is strengthened by the positive response she gets for being a vice president.

Season 5 ended with Frank in a very vulnerable state and viewers are left to wonder what was on Claire's mind in the finale. Many are speculating that when the series returns, Claire will oust her husband from the presidency.

Some say that she will have a hand in Frank's ultimate downfall, while others say Claire will take advantage of the controversy her husband is in. Fans are drawn to the complicated relationship the Underwoods have and can't wait for the next season to be shown.

Although no official premiere announcement has been made yet, it is widely believed to be released during the first quarter of 2017.
