The recently concluded U.S. presidential elections is said to be woven into the story of "House of Cards" season 5 as the Netflix series may usher in a new character in the likeness of U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, who will challenge Frank Underwood's (Kevin Spacey) hold to the presidency. However, in the end, it will be the series' own version of Hillary Clinton who will end up as the victor in a three-way presidential fight.

According to the latest unconfirmed reports, it is suspected that "House of Cards" will align its plot with the recent developments in the U.S. political landscape. Hence, there is a possibility for the Netflix political drama series to introduce a character who will be made in the likeness of Trump.

However, "House of Cards" season 5 may not only be featuring a Trump-like character as, allegedly, it will also feature its own version of Clinton, Trump's opponent in the recently hotly contested U.S. presidential race. Hence, Frank Underwood may not only be up against one opponent in his bid to hold into office in the upcoming season 5 of "House of Cards" as the series' own "Trump" and "Clinton" will challenge his presidency.

Contrary to the outcome of the U.S. elections, though, it is said that "House of Cards" season 5 may feature the victory of its own version of Clinton, and it's no less than Frank Underwood's wife, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). After all, it was earlier rumored that the upcoming season 5 of "House of Cards" will feature the rise of Claire Underwood to power as she holds the most powerful seat of power on land.

Rumors claiming that Claire Underwood will connive with Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) to assassinate Frank Underwood so that she can gain sympathy and increase her chances of winning the presidential race have also persisted.
