'Hawaii Five-0' season 7 premiere spoilers: Chin fights to adopt Sara? plot unknown to cast

(Facebook/HawaiiFive0CBS)“Hawaii Five-0” season 7 will premiere on Sept. 23 on CBS.

The seventh season of "Hawaii Five-0" has officially commenced filming. And naturally, fans have been wondering what season 7 might bring for the characters of the police procedural. For one character, Chin (Daniel Dae Kim), there's the question of becoming an adoptive father.

Season 6 left off with Gabriel (Christopher Sean), on his death bed, asking Chin to take care of his daughter, Sara. It has been revealed that an arc in season 7 has to do with whose custody Sara will end up. In one of EW's Spoiler Room articles, executive producer Peter M. Lenkov said, "We're going to see a nice little arc between Gabriel's family and Chin for the sort of soul of this little girl."

With Sara having family in Mexico, Lenkov pointed out that Chin will realize what's best for her — to be with her own family in a good environment. However, he did say that a problem will arise, so there's no telling at this point if Chin will become an adoptive father to Sara.

And considering Lenkov's style of not laying out every character's journey for the actors to read, it's likely that not even Kim knows how it's going to end up. Alex O'Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett, admitted as much when he spoke to Hawaii News Now.

"I don't know what Peter has in store for us," O'Loughlin confessed. "I'm sure he has all sorts of love and torture and a combination of the both."

As for who the antagonist will be in the new season, Lenkov previously told Entertainment Weekly that he already has something in mind. "Somebody very unexpected, I think," he teased.

Five-0 faced an intense challenge the past season, with the yakuza being a central player in the plot. It will definitely be interesting to see how Lenkov will top that from here on out.

"Hawaii Five-0" season 7 will premiere on Sept. 23, Friday, on CBS.
