'Halo Wars 2' open beta release date to begin June 13?
Leaks have continued to pour out about games in the run-up to E3 2016 and one of the most recent pertained to "Halo Wars 2." In this particular leak, there were indications that after the game was showcased during E3, a beta for it would go live.
The news that an open beta for the "Halo Wars 2" game was upcoming was leaked via a page that was spotted on the Internet. Ubergizmo, commenting on the leak, pointed out that as per the webpage with the leaked information, the beta would kick off on June 13 and end on June 20. This is around the time that the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 is due to kick off in Los Angeles. However, since E3 2016 is scheduled to start on June 14 and carry on until June 16, the news of the open beta for "Halo Wars 2" was treated with some skepticism.
However, Microsoft has made it clear that it plans to showcase the "Halo Wars 2" real-time strategy game during the upcoming conference so many analysts are inclined to believe the news of the beta. More importantly, the upcoming game is being developed for the Xbox One and also Windows 10 and it has been a subject of a lot of rumors.
Recently, a screenshot from "Halo Wars 2" was also leaked on the Internet and it showed that Alice-130, a Spartan commander who featured in the first installment of the game, would be returning. As for the open beta for "Halo Wars 2," only those who have a subscription to Xbox Live Gold will be able to participate. This also means that the beta will only be provided to those who own a console and it will not be arriving for the PC.
Until now, Microsoft has not provided any information about a release date for "Halo Wars 2." All this could change when the company holds its E3 2016 press briefing before the E3 conference kicks off. This briefing is scheduled to take place on June 13 at 9:30 a.m. PST (12:30 p.m. EST).
