'Grand Theft Auto 6' release date rumors: game to be compatible with new-gen consoles, VR headsets in 2018

(Rockstar Games)It's now speculated that "Grand Theft Auto VI" might be released either on 2018 or 2020.

"Grand Theft Auto 5" continues to be a success with its regular updates, but it can't be denied that fans continue to hope for details about its sequel, "Grand Theft Auto 6."

Rockstar Games hasn't announced anything yet that should confirm the existence of the sequel or prove that development is underway, but rumors just keep surfacing and they suggest that the game should be ready by 2018 or 2020. With that said, it is also expected that "GTA 6" should be one hotly anticipated title that will be popular with the new generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony, rumored to be the Xbox Two and PlayStation 5, respectively.

In addition, it is also believed that "GTA 6" will be compatible with upcoming Virtual Reality headsets, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR, which then should make the game feature a realistic video game experience.

"GTA 6" is also expected to feature superior graphics quality that should make the game all the more interesting. According to Neurogadget, this could be the very reason why Rockstar is not trying to rush developing the game.

Since most of the things said about the game are purely based on speculations, fans should take the reports with a pinch of salt. It should be noted that nothing has been set on stone yet, but it is expected that more of the rumors will pop up in the coming months.

In the meantime, "GTA" fans should just continue enjoying the online or multiplayer mode of the current installment, "Grand Theft Online," which rewards players with double cash, Reputation (RP) opportunities and vehicles and ammo discounts. The double XP and cash rewards can be obtained by playing the maps included in the Entourage playlist, which include the Paleto Bay, El Burro Heights and Pillbox Hill, and participating in stunt races that are part of the "GTA Online: Cunning Stunts" downloadable content. These double rewards started on the weekend and will last until Aug. 25.
