'Gran Turismo Sport' release date, news: Thrustmaster's T300RS GT Edition brings players behind an actual steering wheel
Racing aficionados are in for a real treat as Thrustmaster has recently launched the T300RS GT Edition, a device that mimics realistic controls for race cars, making it a must-have for racing games, with "Gran Turismo Sport" at the top of the list.
If "Gran Turismo Sport" players wish to have an authentic feel of the race track, the T300RS GT Edition is quickly going to be a prized possession. According to Gamasutra, the device is a Gran Turismo-officially licensed steering wheel, thus it works best with the game. In a manner of speaking, it literally allows gamers to take a spin as a physical racing wheel is what the device is.
Aside from that, the set also includes a clutch, a break, and an accelerator, further taking the realism to greater heights. The three-pedal set is said to simulate authenticity of actually driving a race car, so much that the brake pedal will render progressive resistance.
Team VVV created a video showing the unboxing and first look of the T300RS. Once it is set up, it pretty much emulates the feeling of driving a vehicle, which is the authenticity that "Gran Turismo Sport" is looking for. This further augments the experience of any player who is into the racing genre.
If a convincing and realistic driving experience is what "Gran Turismo Sport" is shooting for, it may have been checking tick boxes already. Before the release of the T300RS, the creators already thought of launching the title on the PlayStation 4 Pro, taking advantage of the HDR and 4K capabilities that the upgraded console has.
In an interview with Red Bull in early November, Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi said, "We've always had this curiosity for the latest technology and so we have wanted to work with things like HDR and 4K. The work is not easy, but it's still something that we've had fun working with and that attitude of having fun has been important for us during development."
There is no official news yet, but "Gran Turismo Sport" is geared to drive into stores by 2017.
