GoPro Hero 5 release, specs rumors: Brand's latest camera to be bundled with company's first-ever drone, Karma
It is going to be one happy holidays for GoPro fans out there as rumor has it that the highly anticipated GoPro Hero 5 and GoPro's first-ever drone, Karma, are arriving in the market as a bundle around Christmas time this year.
Although the unconfirmed report saying that the said GoPro's upcoming devices are to be sold as a bundle came out earlier this year, some techies and gadget fanatics took it with a grain of salt. Just when some thought it won't be the case, GoPro's announcement in its 2016 first quarter report unconsciously resurrected the said rumor from the dead, and many reports now claim that GoPro Hero 5 and Karma may, indeed, come out as a bundle.
"And while we had to make the difficult decision to delay our drone, Karma, the upside is that Karma's launch should now benefit from the holidays," said GoPro Founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman in the company's first quarter report released last May.
While it's true that nothing in the report states that GoPro Hero 5 and Karma will be sold as a bundle, rumors claiming that it will be the case continue to circulate online. However, without any official statement from GoPro at this point in time, this piece of speculation will remain a speculation until GoPro confirms it in the coming months in time for the release of Karma.
Meanwhile, it is also speculated that Karma is based on the design of GoPro's mechanical engineer, Ryan Goldstein, who submitted his drone design for patenting prior to his employment with the company. If Goldstein's design featured on Patent Yogi is how Karma will look like, it can be said that GoPro will, indeed, have a cutting-edge look for its first-ever drone as the design looks nothing more than a rectangular box when not in use. However, once the parts hidden inside the box are stretched out, a rectangular-shaped drone forms.
Just like the news saying that Hero 5 and Karma will be released as a bundle, though, reports on Goldstein's design being the basis for the design of Karma are also nothing more than speculations for the time being.
