'Girls' season 6 premiere date, spoilers: Final season to wrap up storylines of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna; premiere in early 2017?

Since first premiering in 2012, "Girls" has captivated audiences with its realistic depiction of the trials and tribulations typically associated with one's 20s. As the show's characters Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna prepare to transition into their 30s, "Girls" is also scheduled to bow out after one final season.
According to series creator, executive producer, and star Lena Dunham, she had always envisioned the show to end after six seasons to keep momentum and avoid dragging out storylines. Dunham also felt that as she grew older, her experiences have encompassed the original vision of the show and she finally feels ready to move on.
"It is about this really incredibly specific period in these women's lives. Just on a personal level, I was 23 when I wrote the pilot; I'm gonna be 30 as we shoot the sixth season. And it just felt as through, if we were to continue on, it wouldn't be about what it was originally about," Dunham revealed during the Sundance Film Festival last January.
Season 6 of "Girls" will wrap up the storylines of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa, and Shoshanna. However, specific details into the upcoming season have yet to be revealed.
According to actor Alex Karpovsky, storylines will only begin to take shape once production on the new season starts.
"They don't tell us about where they're headed with story ars until we start cooking – and we don't start cooking on [Season 6] for another few weeks," Karpovsky told TVLine.
Hopefully, more details about season 6 will be released soon. Fans are already looking forward to see how these young women would say good-bye to their 20s and how they would choose to welcome a new phase in their lives — their 30s.
HBO has not yet announced a release date for season 6 of "Girls." However, based on the release schedules of previous seasons, the upcoming season is likely to premiere in early 2017.
Watch out for all the latest news and updates on "Girls" as they are released.
