'Game of Thrones' season 7 updates, cast news: Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau arrive in Croatia; Wolf Hill Quarry scene to feature in episode 6
Filming for "Game of Thrones" season 7 is currently ongoing and cast members have been spotted in Croatia. This is of particular importance considering production for the HBO fantasy series did not shoot many scenes in the country for season 6.
Lena Headey and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who respectively play Cersei Lannister and The Mountain, are reportedly in Dubrovnik, according to Watchers on the Wall. This much was learned when Headey herself posted a photo on her Twitter page that revealed she and Björnsson were on a Croatia Airlines flight.
Apart from Headey and Björnsson, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has also arrived in Dubrovnik. The actor, who plays Cersei's twin brother and lover, Jaime, took to his Instagram account to share photos of his whereabouts. He then challenged his followers to guess his location, and fans promptly deduced that he was at Zagreb's Christmas Market.
It would make sense for Coster-Waldau to be in Dubrovnik since filming in Malpartida has already wrapped. Fans who have been following "Game of Thrones" updates know that filming took place in the Spanish municipality. The shoot, which spanned three weeks, involves Jaime and the Lannister army coming face-to-face with Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen and her horde of Dothraki.
Clarke had arrived in Cáceres at the last minute, and many believe that she may have filmed scenes with her dragons in Malpartida. The cast celebrated the conclusion of the long shoot with a party.
Elsewhere, director Alan Taylor has also been spotted in Belfast, where Kit Harington is supposedly filming scenes with Iain Glen, Rory McCann, and Kristofer Hivju. Harington's Jon Snow, Glen's Jorah Mormont, McCann's Sandor Clegane, and Hivju's Tormund Giantsbane will all join together in an episode of season 7. And up until now, it was unknown which episode the scene in Wolf Hill Quarry would take place. With Taylor's appearance, it now becomes clear that the epic sequence will debut in episode six.
"Game of Thrones" season 7 will premiere in summer 2017.
