'Game of Thrones' season 6 spoilers: Pilou Asbæk cast as Euron Greyjoy; brother Balon Greyjoy expected to die
Winter is coming, not just literally but figuratively as well, with "The Winds of Winter" and "Game of Thrones" season six looming in the air. News has it that the upcoming season of HBO's epic fantasy series will see more deaths and the introduction of a new, albeit previously mentioned, character.
The most painful thing about being a "Game of Thrones" fan is not the deaths of already well-loved characters (case in point: season five finale's unprecedented death) but the long wait for a new season. And even when the new season finally arrives, it only takes 10 short weeks and then everybody is back to the waiting game.
But even so, the pain is almost, though not as close as, to having a new season with all the rumors and updates spilling out.
"GoT"-dedicated website, Watchers on the Wall, got wind of information that the HBO series started shooting in Ballintoy, Northern Ireland, which suggests that the series will be going back to the Iron Islands.
The speculation grew strong when it was confirmed that Danish actor, Pilou Asbæk, has been cast in the role of Euron Greyjoy and was even spotted at the shoot. The scene, sources say, had a crowd cheering on Euron.
All these news had Den of Geek speculating that fans will see Iron Islands' self-proclaimed king, Balon Greyjoy, Theon's father, meeting his death so brother, Euron, can rise to power. The death may not come as news to readers of "A Storm of Swords," which is the third book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series. Even fans of the TV show are already used to seeing characters utter their final breath on the show.
But every once in a while, author GRRM and showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, churn out a shocker death, like season five's finale. There were several statements pertaining to the finality of Jon Snow's death but there were also some dodgy and highly suspicious answers about it. So that's another thing that can surely make the upcoming season a whole lot exciting.
"Game of Thrones" season six is set to return sometime in early 2016.
