'Frozen 2' rumors: No Elsa and Anna; movie to feature new characters

(Facebook/Frozen)Is Disney letting go of Elsa and Anna in "Frozen 2?" Rumor has it that "Frozen 2" is not a sequel and will have new characters.

After various rumors and speculations as to what will happen to Elsa, Anna, and some other original cast members of the hit Disney animated movie "Frozen" in its sequel, the latest in the rumor mill is that "Frozen 2" may have its own story with a new set of characters and will not be a sequel to the original.

According to the latest in the rumor mill, "Frozen 2" will be devoid of the familiar faces associated with the first "Frozen" movie as it will feature a prince looking for his princess this time.

Speculations on "Frozen 2" having a story of its own and will not be a sequel to the first "Frozen" movie stemmed from reports claiming that production for the movie has yet to start for the animated sequel. Reportedly, scriptwriters for the said movie are faced with difficulties coming up with a good story that will top the first one, hence, the decision to come up with a new plot with fresh characters.

In an interview with "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" last July, Kristen Bell, who lent her voice to Anna in the first "Frozen" movie, expressed hope that she and the rest of the "Frozen 2" cast would start recording soon, but the script isn't done yet. That interview of Bell corroborated Idina Menzel's earlier statement saying that writers of the movie had yet to deliver the story.

"We are at story writing and they're working on it and I think I'm in it. That's all I know — unless maybe Elsa falls off an ice cliff and she dies in the first five minutes," Menzel said in her interview with E! News back in June.

However, recently, there are rumors claiming that the original cast members of "Frozen" tendered their resignation from the project and would no longer lend their respective voices anew to the said sequel. It remains unclear, though, whether the supposed resignation is a result of the alleged new story or the reason for it.

Without any official word from Disney Studios, though, everything, including "Frozen 2" not being a sequel and the resignation of the original voice actors, must be taken with a grain of salt at this point in time.
