'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' rumors: Should fans be concerned about lack of new information regarding the game?

(Square Enix)Fans still waiting for more details regarding the 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake'

The 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo was a glorious time for long-time "Final Fantasy" fans as Square Enix finally granted one of their long-standing wishes and confirmed that the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is happening.

Since then though, times have not been quite as glorious for the fans who can't wait to get their hands on the remake.

Ever since that monumental announcement, the folks over at Square Enix haven't really focused much on the upcoming game.

There were game details shared here and there, such as when producer Yoshinori Kitase answered some questions about the remake during an earlier interview with Game Informer.

The game's director Tetsuya Nomura also talked about it briefly during an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, and most recently, "Final Fantasy" brand manager Shinji Hashimoto also discussed it while making an appearance at the Lucca Comics & Games event.

These weren't the most substantial reveals, however, and unless Square Enix has something in store for next month's PlayStation Experience event, it looks like 2016 will pass with fans not even seeing any new footage of the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake."

That would be a disappointing outcome for fans, but one that isn't really that surprising since Square Enix has been focused on another "Final Fantasy" title – which would be "Final Fantasy 15" – for much of this year.

Still, a year going by with the remake largely remaining out of the spotlight will likely cause some fans to grow concerned, but this may have been inevitable.

Square Enix notably did not assign any kind of release date or even just a release window for the game, which seems like a pretty good indicator that it is still far off in the future.

At this point, it just seems as though fans have no other choice than to continue remaining patient. The "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is coming out at some point, it just doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.
