Final Fantasy 15/XV release date, gameplay trailer: Ten-minute 1080p clip wows, Hajime Tabata confirmed as Director [WATCH]
The process behind the upcoming Final Fantasy 15/XV release date has appeared quite troubled following years of delays and changing of creators. Finally, Square Enix appointed Hajime Tabata as the "full director" of the action-focused revamp of the classic role-playing game.
"On the staff changes, I've always been on XV as co-director, but I only recently became director," Tabata said in an interview with Wired.
"After Type-0 was finished, I was basically given the mission to come in and finish what is now [the FFXV] project. At the time I came on board, there was a lot of discussion and hard looking at the project, what the team had planned and what they'd made," he added.
When Tabata took over the overall lead position, a restructuring of the FF15 squad happened. The present team is composed of members from the developer's previous projects, Final Fantasy XIII, Kingdom Hearts and Type-0.
When asked about having only male characters playable in Final Fantasy 15, the new director also joked and said that "bromance" is the perfect term to describe the upcoming JRPG.
Meanwhile, Square Enix has just dropped a major teaser for Final Fantasy 15 – a new version of the ten-minute trailer of the game that was originally showcased in Paris Game Week, an annual trade fair of gaming enthusiasts held in Parc des expositions de la porte de Versailles.
While the studio claimed that the game is still "a work in progress," the video was impressive and is available to watch in magnificent 1080p.
Aside from Dec. 1 launch of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5, Square Enix is busy polishing Final Fantasy Type-0 HD that is set for commercial release date in March, 2015, for PS4 and Xbox One. The game was originally released for PSP in 2011.
Tabata confirmed during the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) that Final Fantasy 15 is 55% complete.
