"Final Fantasy XV," the upcoming RPG from Square Enix has yet to find a release date. Thankfully, game director Hajime Tabata spoke to the Examiner and revealed new details about the highly anticipated video game.

Based on promo images and teasers, the fifteenth installment in the "Final Fantasy" franchise will focus on Noctis' journey. He is on a quest to defeat the forces of Niflheim and rescue his kingdom Lucis. Noctis will be accompanied by three male friends – Prompto, Gladiolus and Ignis.

According to Tabata, there will be two kinds of magic in the game. "The first is a very generic magic system that is used by people around the world. The second one is a very specific discipline of magic, which is only allowed to be used by people within the Royal family itself," Tabata explained.

Though "Final Fantasy XV" doesn't have a central female character, Tabata reveals that Noctis and the other boys will encounter a lot of female characters throughout their journey. These encounters will significantly affect the trajectory of their journey and their overall story.

For example, mechanic Cindy plays a crucial role as she quite literally keeps the boys' journey going. Cindy is the one who will keep Noctis' car running throughout the game. "She makes the entire journey possible," Tabata added.

The female characters are not only potential love interests as Tabata revealed that a number of females will be from the enemy side as well.

From everything that has been revealed so far, it seems that "Final Fantasy" will be a compelling game with stunning visuals. Unfortunately, Square Enix has yet to identify a specific release date.

If rumors are to be believed, the game might be released during the latter part of 2016.  Amazon Japan has the game listed for a Nov. 30, 2016 release date and Amazon USA has the game listed for a Dec. 30, 2016 release date. Ultimately, these release dates are still unofficial and subject to change.

"Final Fantasy XV" will be released for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One consoles.
