Fallout 4 release date news: Is it happening anytime soon?
For the upcoming Fallout 4 release date update, there have been news reports that the game will take the massively multiplayer online (MMO) route, but it seems like Bethesda has had enough of all the rumors circulating on the Internet.
"You should ignore everything unless it comes from an official source/channel," Bethesda Softworks Vice President Peter Hines said.
Although the company is not downplaying the possibility of the sequel, it will be a long time before the development begins.
Fallout 3 was released in 2008, and no progress on the next installment has been shared by Bethesda.
In an interview with IGN, Josh Sawyer, Project Director at Obsidian Entertainment, Inc., declared that he would be interested to be a part of the development team and inject the MMO element into the Fallout 4 gameplay.
"Personally, I think there are some interesting things that could happen with Fallout in an MMO environment. There are some folks who kind of cobbled together all the Fallout 2 resources into kind of a makeshift MMO, made by fans," Sawyer said.
He added, "It was pretty cool but insane. It's like if you take all of the most brutal aspects of Ultima Online and multiply them by five, you have that game. So I think there's interesting potential for an online version of Fallout."
Back in August, rumor mills mentioned that Gamescom 2014 will be the platform that will be used for the announcement of the game.
The event passed however, and no Fallout 4 was seen, not even a hint or a possible target release date.
Tokyo Game Show 2014 also concluded, but no Bethesda revelation regarding Fallout was unwrapped.
The creators behind the Fallout franchise are currently busy with future releases of other confirmed titles, including The Evil Within, The Elder Scrolls Online for PlayStation and Xbox, Battlecry, Doom 4 and Prey 2.
