'Dragon Age 4' release date early 2017? 'Sunless Sea' lead writer working on BioWare project

(Dragon Age official website)"Dragon Age 4" may come out in the first quarter of 2017.

Game developer BioWare remains tight-lipped about the fourth full-length installment of the high-fantasy role-playing game "Dragon Age." However, new speculations reveal that a new title is likely to happen.

According to reports, BioWare has enlisted "Sunless Sea" RPG lead writer and co-founder of Failbetter Games, Alexi Kennedy, for a mystery project with the minds behind "Dragon Age."

After Kennedy's work with "Mass Effect: Andromeda," he revealed that BioWare has enlisted him for another project. Although he did not say what project it is, there are already speculations that it could be "Dragon Age 4."

"I'll be starting in January for a six-month-plus engagement," he said. "In terms of working with BioWare - [I thought] Dragon Age: the Last Court was as close as I'd ever get. I'm an indie to the lobes of my liver and BioWare don't hire freelance writers. So when they made an exception and offered me the gig, I could neither stand still nor stop swearing."

He also commended the game developer's "clear structure" at work and how writers are treated well.

Apart from Kennedy's statement, according to reports, BioWare had asked the gaming community about their thoughts on a "Dragon Age Tactics" video game. The gaming franchise executive producer Mark Darrah also teased on Twitter what the next title would be.

Since 2016 is nearing its end and there is still no hint from BioWare about "Dragon Age 4," fans are now hoping that the title will be launched in the first quarter of 2017, with a possible sale in summer.

The last expansion title that BioWare released for the franchise was last 2014's "Dragon Age: Inquisition." After its release, there were no expansions released by the game developer, and gamers have since been looking for a fourth full-length title that could bring more changes and features to the gameplay.

More details on "Dragon Age 4" will be announced soon.
