Following the rumors that revolved around "Deadpool 2" over the past weeks, Stephen Lang has finally addressed the speculations that he will be joining the cast of the hit franchise as Cable.

Cable is an immensely popular "X-Men" character who will appear in the film. Earlier this year, Lang's name has been caught up in the fire of rumors after he posted on Twitter that he would like to get the role.

"Let's lay some CABLE. You know I want it. This is pre-training. Thanks for spreading the word. #Deadpool," the "Avatar" actor wrote. Unfortunately, the post can no longer be found on the social media platform.

Though Lang is obviously very much interested in the role, it seems fans won't see him playing Cable. In a recent interview with Cinema Blend, the actor expressed doubts regarding him being cast as Cable.

"I think it's highly unlikely that they would ever give me the part, for a number of reasons, one of which being that it's the same studio as Avatar," he explained, adding that there would be conflict in scheduling his filming.

Lang also said he's very sure production would be very satisfied if they decide to tap him for the "Deadpool 2" role since he will definitely give out all of his heart during filming. On the other hand, Lang clarified that if he doesn't get it, he will still be glorious even in defeat and will compliment whoever production picks to play Cable.

It is worth noting that there is still no release date announced for the much-anticipated sequel even if so many fans have already expressed excitement for the film, especially considering that Lang could be tapped to portray Cable.

Lang has been retweeting fan art where he is depicted as Cable since he finds it "cool" and he thinks it's undeniably a "win-win situation" ever since he started campaigning to get the iconic role.

"Deadpool 2" will see the return of Ryan Reynolds, while fans can keep hoping for now that Lang gets the role he is dreaming of.
