'Daredevil' season 3 release date, rumors: Netflix series to return in 2018, Bullseye to be the big bad
After it was officially announced at last month's San Diego Comic-Con that Netflix is giving "Daredevil" another season run, many thought that the "Daredevil" season 3 would arrive next year. However, with other Marvel shows already in the pipeline for a 2017 release, it looks like fans of Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock/Daredevil have to extend their patience as the Netflix series may not return for its third season run earlier than 2018.
It has been learned that after Marvel's head for television Jeph Loeb confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con that "Daredevil" will have a third season run, Netflix boss Ted Sarandos eventually tells the fans to hold their horses as both Marvel and Netflix have a full lineup of superhero offerings next year. The list includes "Iron Fist," "The Defenders," "Jessica Jones," and "The Punisher," which will feature John Bernthal reprising the role after his stint in "Daredevil" season 2.
With such a lineup, it is obvious that adding another Marvel superhero in the series would be too much for Netflix, hence, it is speculated that fans cannot expect "Daredevil" to mark its return to TV next year.
Despite the possibility of the series not getting released next year, though, it is already speculated that "Daredevil" season 3 will be bringing back familiar faces. Apart from Cox, it is predicted that some of the cast members who will find their way back to the series are Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson). Elodie Yung's Elektra is also expected to return, although it is very likely that she will not get as much exposure than she had in the previous season.
However, one speculation that can really whet the excitement of "Daredevil" fans is the possibility for the series to feature Bullseye as its third season's big bad. After all, even Cox himself said in the past that he couldn't imagine "Daredevil" not featuring the villain hitman as, after all, he is Matt Murdock's most formidable opponent.
"I can't imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn't show up at some point," said Cox in an interview with ScreenRant.
Will "Daredevil" really arrive in 2018? If it does, will it feature Bullseye as the big bad?
Only time will tell.
