'CSI: Cyber' season 3 spoilers, updates: Will Avery and the squad be back for a new season?

(Facebook/CSICyber)CBS has yet to renew "CSI: Cyber" for a third season.

"CSI: Cyber" just finished airing its season 2 finale, but CBS has yet to announce whether Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) and her squad will return for a third installment.

According to Premiere Date TV, the second season, which aired Oct. 4, 2015, had a significant drop of viewers by nearly 25 percent compared to its performance in season 1. The freshman offering enjoyed an average of eight million audiences per episode. While six million was a good number for the next season, many felt that "Cyber" did not really captivate the fans as much as the other "CSI" franchises did.

If the network bosses do give the go signal for a renewal, the Cyber unit will return without DB Russell (Ted Danson), who has tendered his resignation to follow his girlfriend, Greer Latimore (Kelly Preston), to Paris. Danson is set co-star in a new NBC sitcom with Kristen Bell. As for the rest of the crew, the storyline made it appear as if all the loose ends have been tied with the happily-ever-after finale.

In the episode, Avery reconciled with her ex-husband Andrew Michaels (Brent Sexton). He was supposed to get married to a different woman when Avery called him, asking for a second chance. In the end, he went to see her at the office and decided to get back together. Elijah Mundo's (James Van Der Beek) story was a bit vague. His stalker was killed when she tried to shoot him in the building's parking lot. DB was also wounded in the incident, but he turned up okay.

As for the white hats of the team, it was happy ending for everyone. Brody Nelson (Shad Moss) went to Quantico and got his badge to be an FBI agent. Raven Ramirez (Hayley Kiyoko) also returned to Cyber as a consultant, while Daniel Krumitz (Charley Koontz) is still Avery's ever reliable subordinate.
