While the iPhone 7 is still due to be released in September of this year, this has not stopped industry pundits from discussing its features and wondering what changes are going to come with it. The latest rumors have pointed towards the smartphone from Apple coming with waterproofing and being prettier than ever.

First off, a recent rumor states that the stripes of plastic positioned along the back of the iPhone lineup would be missing when the iPhone 7 gets released. Currently, the iPhone lineup has to rely on these stripes for the wireless signal to function properly as it cannot pass through the surrounding aluminum.

However, according to the current rumor, Apple is planning to do away with the stripes of plastic as it has managed to develop a new material. This will result in it being able to build a body for the iPhone 7 with material akin to "smart aluminum," and signals necessary for the smartphones' operation will be able to pass right through it.

Apple already has a patent for such a material and in its filing with the USPTO, it is described as something that is "radio-frequency-transparent." However, the material for which Apple received a patent will appear to be bulk metal and also have a metal layer coating it.

As for other rumors about the iPhone 7, they point towards the device coming with waterproofing. Since the launch of the iPhone 6s, this particular rumor has refused to die down and recently, it has gotten more credibility as many industry pundits have indicated that Apple has solid plans to include waterproofing.

Finally, it also appears that Apple is moving towards using OLED displays on the iPhone lineup, and is very close to finalizing deals with Samsung and LG for the creation of such. However, these OLED displays are reportedly only going to appear on the iPhone 7s.
