'Better Call Saul' season 3 news: Filming for the season has started in Albuquerque
The cameras have started rolling for the third season of "Better Call Saul" and the cast and crew of the show are back in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A picture was posted on the show's official Twitter account that features the cast. The photo credited to actor Patrick Fabian has a caption, "Back to the ABQ."
Fabian, who plays Howard Hamlin on the show, also took time to entertain fan messages. To a fan who commended his performance he said, "Thank you so much! We're excited to get busy." When asked when the premiere would be, he replied, "Sometime in the Spring!"
As fans have guessed, Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) will be featured in the upcoming season, but he will not be shown in the early episodes yet. As viewers would know, "Better Call Saul" is a prequel spin-off to "Breaking Bad" and, sooner or later, the transition of Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) is going to happen.
The season is most likely to pick up from last season's finale where Chuck McGill (Michael McKean) has grown to resent his brother so much he wants to destroy him. It has been revealed that much of the change in the lead character was brought about by his relationship with his brother.
McKean spoke about his character with Vulture and he said, "It's not that Chuck doesn't have a heart. He does have a soul, too. It's just that he's also got this growth that he has to have excised, and that's kind of a prime directive. He's associating — I'm giving away way too much. Not story-wise, because they don't tell us anything — but I think that he associates the presence of Jimmy with the absence of his good life. He's seen some kind of sliding scale, as he was seeing Jimmy more and more every day that he was losing touch with other stuff."
Their relationship may be one of the biggest story arcs in the upcoming season, but there are also other relationships to be explored. While "Better Call Saul" season 3 does not have a definite premiere date yet, fans are just excited to know that production is underway.
