'Avatar 2' plot news, release date: Sigourney Weaver praises script; film to arrive on Dec. 21, 2018?
"Avatar 2" is still two years away, but rumors are already surrounding the film. And while details about the plot are scarce at this point, actress Sigourney Weaver has praised the script of the sequel, saying that it is far more superior than the first one.
It can be recalled that Weaver played the role of Dr. Grace Augustine in the first "Avatar" film. And although her character perished, it has been revealed that Weaver will be back for the sequel. It remains to be seen how director James Cameron will make this possible, but fans are undoubtedly excited nonetheless.
While speaking to Variety, Weaver said that the sequel's scripts are better than the first, mainly because Cameron has more freedom to explore now.
"In my opinion, the three scripts I've read so far are many times more amazing than the first one in terms of their scope. He did a lot of the heavy lifting in the first movie, establishing the family and the relationships and the world, and now he really gets to play," she said.
But Weaver's character isn't the only one rising from the dead. It has also been said that Stephen Lang will be back for the sequel. Lang played Colonel Miles Quaritch, the villain in the first film.
As for its release date, 20th Century Fox has yet to officially announce one for "Avatar 2," although a recent revelation may have just given it away. According to Deadline, Fox revealed a list of upcoming release dates, with one untitled film from Lightstorm Entertainment set for Dec. 21, 2018. It should be noted that Lightstorm Entertainment is a film production company founded by Cameron. The rest of the planned sequels will be released in 2020, 2022, and 2023.
However, since this has not been confirmed yet, readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt for now.
