'Attack on Titan' season 2 plot rumors: Upcoming season of the anime to veer away from manga origins

(Facebook/Shingeki no Kyogin)Rumors claim that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will veer away from the story of its manga counterpart.

After it was speculated that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will remain faithful to its manga counterpart, the latest in the rumor mill claims it will be otherwise.

As of this writing, it is still uncertain as to when exactly "Attack on Titan" season 2 will arrive. However, various rumors and speculations about it have just refused to die for the past couple of months.

After it was strongly speculated in the past that the anime would tackle the events in its manga origin for its much-anticipated season 2, it is now said that the forthcoming season of the anime will veer away from the story of its print version.

Despite having a story of its own that has not been told in the manga, it is rumored that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will still follow the lives of Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and Levi and their friends from the Survey Corp. Nonetheless, because it is unclear to fans of both the manga and the anime series how the Titans came into existence and how the walls developed, it is now said that the upcoming season will focus on the backstory of the Titans and the walls.

In addition to shedding light on the history of the titans and the walls, there are also rumors saying that the forthcoming season of "Attack on Titan" season 2 will usher in more titans who could either be a friend or foe, and one of them is, allegedly, Zeke. While Zeke and Eren can shape-shift into a titan, it is said that what will set the former apart from the latter is his ability to think and control himself even if he has already transformed.

There are also rumors claiming that a beast titan that will be more powerful than the others in the story will also be introduced in the story.

Earlier, it was reported that the "Attack on Titan" season 2 would reveal that Krista is actually a member of the powerful Reiss family and goes by the real name of Historia Reiss. It was also said that the character would assume the throne as the next queen after the corrupt king, which turns out to be just a puppet of the Reiss family, is overthrown in a revolt.

If the rumor saying that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will have a story of its own and will not adapt the story of its print counterpart, it now remains to be seen if the revelations about Krista will still be featured.

"Attack on Titan" season 2 is rumored to be aired in spring next year.
