'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date delayed as there is not enough story for it
In the world of anime, the series "Attack on Titan" has quickly become one of the most popular; however, this does not mean that the second season is ready to release. In fact, news has emerged that the second season of the anime has been delayed.
Reporting on the arrival of the second season, Movie Pilot states that last year many fans were happy when it was announced. However, since then, the development of the upcoming season has proverbially hit a "brick wall." This particular brick wall is something that the people working on the anime cannot surmount as it comes in the form of lack of story. Currently, the "Attack on Titan" anime is only two story arcs ahead of the Manga on which it is based.
Also "Attack on Titan" follows the plot outlined in the Manga quite closely and this is something which has helped the popularity of the anime rise over the years. However, with the first season of the anime done and no more story to draw upon, many are expecting that original content would be created for the second season. But if recent rumors are to be believed, the director of the anime, Tetsuro Araki, is not ready to push out original content just to get the series its second season.
So for now, it looks like the creator of the popular manga, Hajime Isayama, has to ensure that it is at least four story arcs ahead of the anime and that is when production on it will continue. However, others like Escapist Magazine has pointed out that as of now, the second season is scheduled to release this year and this date has not been pushed to the future. Also, it goes on to add that three story arcs that have been published in the manga so far are much longer than anything that was in previous story arcs and this would be sufficient material for the second season of the "Attack on Titan" anime.
