Android M: Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge, S6, Alpha and more to receive update by 2015 end

Google had announced the latest iteration of its mobile operating system, currently codenamed Android M, at the company's annual I/O developer conference held last month. The announcement had generated great excitement among Android fans as Google's latest mobile operating system is widely expected to bring a host of new features and capabilities to all Android devices currently running the Android Lollipop OS. An official list of devices confirmed to receive Android M updates by the end of 2015 has now been announced and includes Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 4.

Android M software for smartphones, tablets, watches and TVs aims to improve security and privacy, while conserving battery life. Google's Android M will offer improved support for biometric authentication methods, including fingerprints, which presently rely on third-party manufacturers like Samsung who build their own security systems for support. Android M's biometric additions will make it easier to adopt fingerprint- and iris-authenticated payments and other secure login systems.

Android M will also offer better privacy by allowing users to deny apps access to location, personal information and data, and improving the permissions system as compared to the accept-all system in older versions of Android. Additionally, the improved control of background apps by Google's latest operating system will improve battery life

The official list of devices confirmed to receive Android M updates shows that Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Alpha and However, the list of devices confirmed to receive the Android M update is not complete, and other handsets and tablets will be added to it in the coming months. For instance, Samsung Galaxy S5 does not figure in the first list, but is expected to get the Android M update later.
