AMD Ryzen release date, specs: Newest chip gets unveiled, equipped with SenseMI tech
Advanced Micro Devices shocked the technology world by unveiling its newest chip created with Zen architecture. The inclusion of the SenseMi technology to the AMD Ryzen gives its competitors a good fight.
Through an official statement, AMD president and chief executive officer Dr. Lisa Su commented on their newest chip and said: "The 'Zen' core at the heart of our Ryzen processors is the result of focused execution and thousands of engineering hours designing and delivering a next-level experience for high-end PC and workstation users."
Su also emphasized that the AMD Ryzen bears the SenseMI technology which is a set of "sensing and adapting" elements that house an artificial network for a more efficient performance. According to AMD, the SenseMI has significant components like its 100 embedded sensors, power-efficient characteristics that pave the way for an "operating mode with minimal energy consumption."
With SenseMI's Neural Net Prediction component, the AMD Ryzen picks up tracks from the owner's previous decisions and instructions. These will then be used for a more efficient PC performance in the future.
Another sensing feature incorporated in the AMD Ryzen is dubbed as Smart Prefetch. As AMD explains, it is "sophisticated learning algorithms that track software behavior to anticipate the needs of an application and prepare the data in advance."
As for its other specifications, it competes with Intel's up-and-coming 7th generation processors. The Ryzen and Intel's i7 chips are both created with 14-nanometer processors, eight cores, and 16 threads. However, AMD Ryzen takes a slight lead in terms of base frequency. AMD Ryzen's base frequency is clocked at 3.4-gigahertz (GHz) compared to Intel i7's 3.2 GHz.
AMD senior vice president Jim Anderson also said: "The desktop market is hungry for change as new and demanding use cases like VR, 3D modeling, and eSports require intense amounts of processing and graphics power. We designed Ryzen processors to excel in these areas and to bring much-needed innovation and competition back to desktop PCs."
The price and other specs of AMD Ryzen are yet to be revelead. But the wait will not be for long as the new chip is expected to have its market debut in the first quarter of 2017.
