The fifth-generation Land Rover Discovery is rumored to have its official launch sometime next year. The all-new Discovery SUV will come with a sleeker design and will be based on the Discovery Vision Concept.

The Discovery Vision Concept was unveiled back in 2014 during the New York Auto Show. The concept model was said to be a preview of the upcoming production model.

According to Autocar, the 2017 Land Rover Discovery will be more premium than its predecessor and in terms of premium features, will be closer to the Range Rover lineup. However, it will still retain its signature looks.

The all-new Discovery SUV will have a sportier and more modern design but will still be practical for everyday use. The interiors will also be more luxurious and equipped with the latest technologies. The SUV will also have impressive off-rad capabilities.

It will be built using the same aluminum chassis used by the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport. The Discovery SUV will also be built on Land Rover's Solihull facility.

As it will be using a new chassis, the upcoming Land Rover Discovery will be significantly lighter than its predecessor. It will also have a lower ride height. The Land Rover Discovery may also be powered by an updated 3.0-liter SDVG diesel engine, which is used by the fourth-generation Discovery models.

The Land Rover Discovery lineup will have three models including a smaller Discovery Sport model.

Finally, the 2017 Discovery SUV could also feature the latest technologies developed by Jaguar Land Rover. Also according to Autocar, the Discovery could feature a laser scanning system that can adjust suspension and transmission depending on the road conditions, the ability to control the car remotely and a bonnet that can transmit an image of what's underneath.

The all-new Land Rover Discovery SUV is expected to launch during the latter part of 2016 and will be sold as a 2017 model.
