2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro news: Toyota introduces off-road truck able to endure the harshest road conditions

Toyota has taken the wraps off the newest model joining the TRD Pro Series, the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro. The pick-up truck made its debut at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show featuring the latest off-road equipment that allows it to endure extreme and harsh road conditions.

Developed by Toyota Racing Development, the 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro is based on the Tacoma TRD Off-Road 4x4 Double Cab Short Bed model. It will be offered in three exterior colors – Cement, Barcelona Red Metallic and Super White.

As a Tacoma TRD Pro model, the truck has been equipped with TRD-installed suspension and exhaust enhancements. Standard features include projector beam headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. The headlights and taillights also come with black bezels.

The off-road capable truck features a TRD Pro aluminum front skid plate, 16-inch TRD black alloy wheels with Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tires, Toyota's signature front grille, a blacked out hood and same-color outside mirrors, door handles and rear bumper.

Despite its rugged and sporty exterior design, the truck's interiors have been designed to deliver optimal levels of comfort.

The cabin comes standard with black TRD Pro leather-trimmed and heated front seats with TRD Pro badging, four-way adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, the Entune Premium Audio system and TRD exclusive shift knob, floor mats. To chronicle off-road adventures, the Tacoma TRD Pro also comes with a GoPro mount on the windshield.

Safety and assistive features include rear parking assist sonar, blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 278 horsepower. It comes standard as a four-wheel drive. The engine is also mated with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will go on sale starting this fall. Pricing will be announced closer to the truck's release date.
