Young British Muslims launch online campaign against IS
It's time to make their voices heard say a group of young British Muslims who have launched a video and social media campaign to condemn the terror acts of the Islamic State group.
London-based group Active Change Foundation launched a YouTube and Twitter campaign #NotInMyName to voice their thoughts on the murder of David Haines and the kidnapping of Alan Hemming.
The #NotInMyName campaign has started to tell the world that British Muslims reject IS, its ideology and actions, the Daily Mirror online reported on Wednesday.
It aims to educate people that what the IS does do not represent the Islamic faith or the community.
Hanif Qadir, founder of ACF said there is no justification for murdering an innocent man.
"These terrorists ISIS are not true Muslims, they do not practice the true teachings of Islam; peace, mercy and compassion and they are the enemy of all mankind," Qadir said.
The Not in My Name Youtube video presents British Muslims condemning the IS, saying that its actions do not represent Islam or any Muslim.
One said that Muslims should "unite together to stop this group from damaging Islam and damaging Muslims."
Another noted that the IS leader is a liar. Others also said that IS actions are inhumane, with no compassion, and have no respect for women.
The one-minute clip also urges others to join the movement by tweeting why the IS does not represent them with the hashtag #NotInMyName.
The campaign gained support from various Twitter users.
Matthew Raymond tweeted that the campaign "makes sure that not every Muslim is painted with the same brush." ONE tweeted: "This is not Islam, Islam is beautiful."
"We hope, in the coming days and weeks, that more and more people will join the campaign and register their voices to send a clear message to ISIS," Qadir said, The Herald in Scotland reported.
The message is:
"Not in my name will you kill, not in my name will you rape, not in my name will you enslave others and not in my name will you do all of this in the name of Islam," Qadir explained.
