'Wayward Pines' season 2 spoilers: Residents to face reality of living in Abbies' world, EP says
Two more weeks before the much-awaited season 2 premiere of the mystery science fiction drama "Wayward Pines." Here is a roundup of what's about to unfold on the upcoming season.
First episode, titled "Enemy Lines," starts after the shocking events of the first season. This time, the First Generation implements an iron-fisted rule that the residents of the town of Wayward Pines are battling against.
After getting out of suspended animation, Dr. Theo Yedlin, the town's new resident, is thrown in the midst of the people's rebellion against the First Generation. As he settles himself in the strange environment, he keeps himself busy learning about the real Wayward Pines and the force that preserves the endangered human race.
One of the original residents, CJ Mitchum, who is also known as the historian of the town, has a wide knowledge of the town's complicated origin and he is the only person that can link the past to the present world of Wayward Pines.
Meanwhile, Megan Fisher is responsible for the scientific research being done on the Abbies. She also continuously takes part in the development of the hearts and minds of the future of humanity, the First Generation.
In the season 2 First Look clip of the show, executive producer Blake Crouch, author of the book that the show is based on, reveals the conception of the second season. He reveals that even though the first season got positive reviews and viewership, it was not enough reason to return with season 2. He and co-producer M. Night Shyamalan had an agreement to create a season 2 only if they have a material that is worth telling to the audience.
"One of the things that we'll gonna do with season 2 is explore the Abbies in a way that's gonna change everything the audience thought they knew about these creatures. One of the hard realizations that the residents of Wayward Pines are gonna have to come to terms with is that they are living in the Abbies' world," he added.
"Wayward Pines" season 2 premieres on May 25 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
