Troye Sivan celebrates LGBTQ rights with 'Heaven;' Ashton of 5SOS shows appreciation on Twitter

It has always been said that music is a universal language that is understood by practically everyone. In a recent music video, Troye Sivan shows just how commanding this medium is with his equally powerful song, "Heaven."

The song talks about putting one's individuality over whatever society asks people to conform to, and the music video augments that feeling even further by celebrating the history of LGBTQ rights. In black and white montage, clips of same sex partners and activism are flashed, while Troye sings what could possibly be 2017's equality theme.

The lyrics themselves make a loud statement of staying true to one's self, with the words, "Without losing a piece of me, how do I get to heaven? Without changing a part of me, how do I get to heaven? ...So if I'm losing a piece of me, maybe I don't want heaven?"

Given the timing of the video's release, it is also making a political stand heard loud and clear. The music video was released at the same time president-elect Donald Trump and vice-president Mike Pence were sworn into office, with the latter having a rather extreme stand against the LGBTQ community when he signed a religious freedom law, something that could worsen discrimination.

That, of course, is not confirmed by the artist but rather an assumption from certain coincidences, but a tweet from one of the 5 Seconds of Summer boys does not need any interpretation, as it shows pure love.

5SOS drummer Ashton Irwin has publicly shown his support for the video, praising Sivan and says that he should be proud of himself. He even adds that he'd like to meet him in person, to which the singer replied he'd also want that, too.

This is something that fans quickly picked up, making everyone hope that they'd have a collaboration soon. Nevertheless, it simply is testament that his message is heard, and it just happened to be a bonus that another person from the music industry openly praised him for it.
