'Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands' news: Trailer and customization details outlined
Gamers have been waiting for an update about "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands" since it was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2015. It has since become one of the most anticipated games for this year, but its release date has been moved to 2017. During the Gamescom event held in Germany this week, publisher Ubisoft shared a demo video which mostly featured how customization works.
Polygon notes that the almost two-minute long video demonstrated how players can customize the characters, in-game gear, and how to use Ubisoft's Gunsmith for weapon creation. The game is set in the not too distant future where players deal with the Santa Blanca Drug cartel in Bolivia. "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands" is the first in the franchise to feature an open world environment.
A blog entry in the publisher's official site also shares important details players should know about customization. There will be 12 different elements that can be customized in the player's chosen Ghost. Player options include gender, hats, glasses, tattoos, and even fabric patterns. Customizing has also gone through intricate details as the choices a player makes will affect everything else like it would in the real world.
For example, your choice of headgear will affect your character's hairstyle, as well as other gear the player can choose from. There will also be more items to unlock aside from the many choices available at the start of the game. The Gunsmith feature is also back with more improvements and additions. The game also features 50 weapons that are customizable via assorted skins and attachments.
"Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands" will be released on March 7, 2017, and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are now being accepted.
