'The Walking Dead' season 6 finale spoilers: Negan to kill a favorite with Lucille
"The Walking Dead" season 6 is nearing its end. Many viewers are eager to find out what will happen and which character will see their last episode in the series.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is finally making his debut as the villainous Negan in the season 6 finale. Numerous publications have reported on a leak that points towards Negan killing a beloved character using his trusty barbed wire-covered bat named Lucille. In the comics, which is the source material of the television series, it was Glenn who got the fatal blow. But in a show that has deviated from the comics countless times, nothing is ever certain.
According to the leak, Negan will play a game of "eeny, meeny, miny, moe" while choosing his victim. Once he chooses, the camera will then take on the intended victim's POV and sees Negan swinging Lucille toward the lens. Unfortunately, that's how season 6 will reportedly end, with the victim being revealed in season 7.
Although it was Glenn who suffered the attack in the comics, that's not necessarily how it's going to be in the finale. After all, Steven Yeun, who portrays the fan-favorite Glenn in the drama thriller, said: "I know people are going to always go, 'Negan kills Glenn in the comics,' but rest assured that we don't necessarily do what's in the comics."
If that's not enough, showrunner Scott M. Gimple also told Entertainment Weekly that even though there are some direct references, the show does sometimes stray from the original material when it comes to Negan and the Saviors.
So, if fans are worried about Glenn's fate, take note that "The Walking Dead" doesn't always stick to the comics. One thing, however, is for sure: season 6 will end with a huge cliffhanger. As star Lauren Cohan puts it, "It's the cliff-hangerist episode."
A new episode of "The Walking Dead" season 6 will air tonight, March 27, and the finale will air on Sunday, April 3 on AMC.
