The upcoming season of "The Vampire Diaries" may change the lives of some characters, specifically Alaric, who appears to have moved on from all the drama and is ready to face fatherhood minus his kids' mother by his side.

In the previous seasons, Alaric (Matthew Davis) and Caroline (Candice King) talked about raising the twins together even if Caroline isn't the biological mother of the children. While the scene raised red flags on Caroline and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) relationship, many suggest that Alaric won't really come in between the two.

The Bitbag says it has been confirmed that a new female character named Seline will join the cast. Seline will be the nanny of the Gemini twins and it is believed that she might also have been cast to join "The Vampire Diaries" season eight for reasons that will serve Alaric well.

Seline will be played by Kristen Gutoskie and it is now widely speculated that she will become Alaric's love interest. Since Seline will be the twins' nanny, it is only reasonable that she starts to form a tight bond with the two.

While the rumors have not been confirmed, it is expected that the new nanny will also possibly fall in love with Alaric, which marks the end of the latter's life as a single father. To clarify, Caroline has decided to help raise the kids with Alaric - but that doesn't mean she will serve as his wife.

Meanwhile, rumors continue to fly around Nina Dobrev's potential return to the cast. Though it has not been confirmed for season eight, executive producer Julie Plec has said numerous times that she would love to see the actress back during the series' finale.

Though some have lost hope for Elena's big comeback, last season's audio appearance made all the difference. HOF Mag notes though that there could be a problem in case Elena appears with Damon in the new episodes. This is because Somerhalder is now married to Nikki Reed and is completely happy with his life after he and Dobrev called it quits.

Previous reports suggest that Reed is definitely not okay with her husband filming alongside Dobrev again, which could mean that viewers won't see Elena soon. If she does, she might not appear in the same scene with Damon.

"The Vampire Diaries" season eight is slated to premiere on October 21, 2016 on The CW.
