The upcoming season 8 episode 13 of "The Vampire Diaries" may feature the return of Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert character now that Kai (Chris Wood) is coming back to the series. However, some fans can't help but suspect that the upcoming installment of the vampire series may already be the beginning of Bonnie's (Kat Graham) imminent death as well.

There is no denying that Kai is one of the most effective villains in "The Vampire Diaries" universe. In fact, the character is the reason behind why Elena vanished from the show as he cast a sleeping spell on her and linked her life to Bonnie. This means that Elena can only wake up once Bonnie is dead.

Now that Kai is returning for the next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, it is suspected that the return of Elena is imminent as well. After all, it is already confirmed that Dobrev is coming back to the series for, at least, an episode before "The Vampire Diaries" takes a bow.

While there are those who believe that Dobrev will return as Elena's doppelganger, Katherine Pierce, the teaser for the upcoming episode seems to suggest otherwise. In the said teaser, Kai is being confronted by Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) when he blurts out a deal with Damon, saying that he will bring back Elena. Another scene shows Damon mandating Kai to bring Elena back to life "right now."

As the teaser also shows Bonnie in utter surprise for an unknown reason, some suspect that it may have something to do with Kai's return as well. If Kai is really to bring Elena Gilbert back to life in the next episode, does it mean that Bonnie will eventually meet her demise? After all, the upcoming episode is the first of the last four before "The Vampire Diaries" ends its run. If her death does not happen in the upcoming episode, will she be the one to die in the series finale?

Will Kai really resurrect Elena? If he does, will it really result in Bonnie's death? Will Kai nullify the spell that, even if Elena is resurrected, Bonnie will still not die?
