'The Originals' and 'The Vampire Diaries' news: crossover gets a new video teaser
"The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" crossover has been confirmed by The CW Television Network. Just how the Salvatores and Mikaelsons cross paths is what avid fans of both shows is most excited about.
A promotional video has been recently released, providing audience a glimpse of the upcoming crossover. It highlights a brief interaction between Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan), with the two sitting together in a bar. Klaus greets Stefan by sliding him a shot of liquor and says, "Welcome to New Orleans, old friend."

CW president Mark Pedowitz announced the crossover at the Television Critics Association's press tour on earlier last month (via Entertainment Weekly). "If they don't make sense story-wise, don't do it, don't force it — the audience can tell," he told reporters.
Talking to E! Online, the two shows creator Julie Plec revealed how the storyline smoothly led them to the crossover. Stefan, the younger Salvatore, needs to go to St. James Infirmary in New Orleans to seek refuge, as this is the only place where magic does not exist, thus, shielding him from any spell. His stay is prolonged, though, after meeting Klaus who is going to ask him for help with a problem of his own.
There is that Klaus-Stefan-Caroline story fans are hoping for. However, Plec admitted they are not going to make an all-out battle for the affections of Caroline Forbes. Instead, they will have an interesting discussion about love, given that the two characters have each their history about relationships and sacrifices.
"They actually have a surprisingly civil and honest conversation about love — what it means and the sacrifices that you have to make in the name of it," Plec told TVLine.
Both "The Originals" and "The Vampire Diaries" returned for their midseason last Jan. 29. CW, however, has not released the specific date for the crossover episode.
