While it's true that "The Flash" season 3 adapting the comic book "Flashpoint" storyline is no secret, fans must not expect that the live-action version of the story will be exactly the same with the events in its print version. Even if the "The Flash" season 3 will be faithful to the original "Flashpoint" to a certain extent, its focus will be more on the impact of the altered timeline on Barry Allen/The Flash's (Grant Gustin) personal life.

To the uninitiated, Barry Allen ended up altering the timeline in his attempt to prevent his mother's, Nora Allen (Michelle Harrison), death in the past in the series' season 2 finale. With the altered timeline, Barry Allen wakes up to a new world that is much different from his original timeline.

In the comic books, Barry Allen's act was universal, affecting everyone in the DC universe. For instance, Bruce Wayne is not Batman but his father, Thomas, and Superman is not the hero that he is supposed to be.

While it's unclear whether "The Flash" season 3 will also feature the effects of the altered timeline on other DC characters outside the series, it is said that one of the deviations of the series from the "Flashpoint" comic book version is that both parents of Barry Allen are alive.

"The stakes in the comic book in Flashpoint were global and the stakes in this episode are very much just about Barry, his existence, and the people that he loves," said "The Flash" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Another difference is that, in the original "Flashpoint," Barry Allen wakes up without his powers although he manages to regain them later on — thanks to the help of Batman. However, it is said that in the TV series version, Barry Allen will still have his powers, but he will no longer be Central City's superhero but the Kid Flash instead, also known as Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale). Hence, fans must not expect that there will be any sort of interaction between The Flash and the Dark Night on the TV series version of "Flashpoint."
