The Flash' season 2 update: Midseason finale on Dec. 8 promises three rogues and the introduction of Wally West

One more episode before "The Flash" season two dives into a midseason break. And the show has one nice surprise under its sleeves, especially for fans that are also comic book readers.

"The Flash" season two will have an epic midseason finale as it pits the speedster against three of his former foes. Also thrown into the mix is the shippers' most-awaited Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) work collaboration. There's also a continuation of the show's set-up for the upcoming superhero series, "Legends of Tomorrow."

Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) goes back on "The Flash" and will probably owe the Weather Wizard (Liam McIntyre) some favor as the latter's makes it his main purpose to break off the "Legends of Tomorrow" character from Iron Heights. Also in Weather Wizard's list of people to break free from the Arrowverse prison is James Jesse a.k.a. Trickster (Mark Hamill). With this trio of rogues, what role is Barry to play in all these? Why, stop them from dominating Central City, of course.

New photos posted by Comic Book Resources show the three villains collaborating and Patty confronting them with The Flash (yup, the superhero and not her "normal person" boyfriend).

Everything looks good. But what's a really nice surprise for all comic book fans is the sneak peek at Keiynan Lonsdale, who will play the role of Wally West. In at least two of of the photos, the future Kid Flash is seen knocking at the door of Joe West's (Jesse L. Martin).

Developer Andrew Kreisberg once told Den of Geek about Kid Flash's eventual introduction, "Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show."

Kid Flash was just reintroduced recently with the New 52 DC Comics relaunch. Watch his alter-ego Wally West join the Arrowverse with the midseason finale of "The Flash" season two on The CW this Dec. 8
