'The Blacklist' season 3 spoilers: Edi Gathegi to play new villain Mr. Solomon
What is a good television series without an antagonist? "The Blacklist" knows this too well and is adding another bad guy when it returns for season three later this year.
NBC's crime thriller drama, "The Blacklist," has just signed Edi Gathegi (known for his roles in "X-Men: First Class" and "Proof") as its latest villain for season three. Gathegi will step into the role of Mr. Solomon, who will act on behalf of the Cabal.
Mr. Solomon will make his first appearance on the pilot episode, no less. He is going to be a recurring character, stepping in and out of the third season from time to time. Entertainment Weekly describes him as "a monster in gentleman's clothing," because despite his quiet and unassuming facade is a very violent nature.
Fans of NBC's action thriller have so much to look forward to in the upcoming season. It has previously been revealed that despite the Red Reddington (James Spader) and Liz Keen's (Megan Boone) fleeing scene in the season two finale, the pair are still going to be in the United States. Liz will also be stepping into what was previously an unfamiliar territory as she embraces her inner criminal, as was already hinted in the last episode of season two.
Having escaped the murder of Tom Connolly, Liz is now in FBI's Most Wanted List and will be the top priority for Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff). Agent Ressler will be obsessed, sacrificing other people just to ensure that Liz answers to the law.
The first episode of "The Blacklist" is titled "The Troll Farmer." The synopsis hints at some undercover work from a certain desk-bound CIA analyst.
"The Blacklist" first aired in Sept. 23, 2013 and had the following premise: high-profile criminal and ex-Navy officer Red surrendered to the FBI with a list of the criminals he has worked with over the years. He asks for immunity in exchange for information but insists he will only work with profiler, Liz Keen. The series explores Red's intentions for surrendering and his interest in Liz's life.
"The Blacklist" is expected to return for season three on NBC this Sept. 24.
